LAHORE: The Punjab government will do re-balloting of the yellow cabs left over after scrutiny of applications of the first time balloting.
The News has learnt that the Punjab government has started balloting of Yellow Cab Scheme applicants without securitizing the applications as it takes a lot of time, causing further delay in the scheme. According to officials attached with the scheme said that the scrutiny of applicants was assigned to district coordination officers (DCOs), instead of the Bank of Punjab. They said that the BOP had handed over all applicantsí data to respective DCOs who were now conducting the balloting.
They pointed out that, in some cases, the number of applications was not very high while, in some others, the applications had some technical errors, which might be disqualified after the scrutiny. They said it was pointed out in different meeting during the policy making but it did not come under serious consideration as it would further delay the scheme-launching, something the ëpolitical bossesí did not want.
